Central Bridge- A sense of elegance
The Central Bridge of Trikala is definitely the heart of the city. Its construction was completed in 1888 by French engineers, who offered some of the elegance of their mother country to Trikala. They also decided to build the Train Station of Thessaly. It’s distinctive Parisian esthetic affected the rest of the city to a great extent, offering a romantic dimension to the surrounding buildings and a romantic mood to all those who have been crossing it since then.
It may be one of the many bridges that unites both banks of River Lithaios; however, it is the main central bridge and a reference point worthy of admiration. Right across the bridge, we see the statue of Asklipios, who looks like a Titan observing the modern version of Trikala, a city which ended up shaping a powerful modern identity over time.
